Lisa Lerkenfeldt is a composer and performer based in Melbourne. Her palette of time-dusted tape loops, paired back piano and slow dances of static noise are littered with textural ambience. Lisa Lerkenfeldt is an Australian artist, composer and performer who works with piano, analogue tape systems and digital software to dissolve time and blur genre. Time-dusted tape loops, paired back piano and slow dances of static noise form a palette littered with textural ambience. Improvised sketches draw on the fragile beauty of acoustic instruments, electroacoustic techniques and imperfections. Tactile and non-linear in form, her compositions are informed by the lineage of 20th century piano composition, musique concrète and experiments in spatial audio, posing a delicate intervention in the history of works for piano and tape. Open in structure, these pieces invite endless variation and multiple readings.
Lisa writes music for the everyday that operates in a space between rehearsal and recital and translates from home to stage. She has performed at major museums, concert halls, art spaces, listening rooms and private dinners in Australia, Europe and Japan and has collaborated with artists, musicians, filmmakers, software designers and augmented reality specialists. Her work has featured in Offprint Paris, INA-GRM, Hammer Hall, The National Gallery of Victoria, Art Gallery Of NSW, Gertrude Contemporary and Melbourne Fashion Week. Following two LPs on Shelter Press (France), national tours of Australia and Japan, and residencies in Paris and Melbourne, she is currently writing and recording in 2025.

"An ivory hued fever dream."
- Boomkat
"Lerkenfeldt's music can feel like the most plangent piano chords from all the most beautiful deep house songs in history, left to flood and decompose."
- Resident Advisor
"Fantastic, aesthetic, immersive. This year's best modern classical ambient daydream.
- Meditations
“Her work combines traditional instrumentation with experimental techniques, emphasising sound’s physicality and cyclical structures. At her residencies in Paris and Melbourne, the latter At The Above, she integrates historical and contemporary influences, working with restored pianos, analogue hardware, and modern technology. “
